Despite best efforts, the Great Barrier Reef by 2070 will be off limits to casual visitors. Controlled access for tourism purposes is managed out of Cairns, where visits are tightly managed.
Some questions to think about:
- What impacts would such a future have on the tourism industry? Is it conceivable that this greater wonder of the world will be off limits?
- What are the ecosystem impacts of such a demise, and how would such impacts be felt by the community on land?
